Mateo-Lucian Diaz is a dynamic, multifaceted artist, songwriter, and educator fueled by a deep passion for performance and storytelling. A graduate of the University of Memphis with a BFA in Musical Theatre, Mateo has also trained as an actor at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, studied songwriting at Webster University, and refined his lyric-writing craft at Berklee College of Music.
From the tender heart of Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors to the quick-witted Nigel Bottom in Something Rotten! and the radiant Zanna in Zanna, Don’t!, Mateo has lit up stages across the country with his charisma, versatility, and emotional honesty.
As a songwriter, Mateo draws inspiration from the human experience—crafting music that blends theatricality with soulful storytelling. Offstage, he brings that same spirit to his work as an educator, helping students across genres—Musical Theatre, R&B, Classical, and Jazz—discover their voice and creative power through both technique and heart.
